Club History

1975
First team entered in the Melbourne Women’s Hockey Association. Club name was Monbulk Hockey Club playing at the Monbulk High School. The club was formed by Carol Hulme (nee McMurray), Sue Parry (Upwey High Teacher), Mary-Anne Le Vant (Monbulk High Teacher) and was made up of students from Upwey & Monbulk High Schools.

1976
First Ladies Premiership

1978
First Mens team entered in the Melbourne Mens’ Hockey Association. Foundation players & Organisers – Bill Darlison & Stephen Hulme

1980
Change of Name to Sherbrooke Hockey Club and move to new grounds at Kings Park, Willow Road, Upper Ferntree Gully. Club also gained members from disbanded clubs Foothills & Lilydale.

1982
First Minkey program was run at Kallista State School. Program was organised by Bill Darlison & Jack Creswick

1984
First Junior team entered into Victorian Junior Association. Team entered in U17 Boys & was made up of boys & girls aged between 14 & 17. Junior section was organised by Stephen Hulme

1985
First Mens’ State League Team Entered

1989
Club moved to Guy Turner Reserve, Amber Street, Bayswater and changed name to Knox-Sherbrooke

1990
Club changed name to Knox

1994
Club transferred all its senior games to the artificial turf ground at Caulfield Grammar School – Wheelers Hill Campus. Women’s State League team was entered between 1990 & 1995. All senior training was held at Doncaster Hockey Ground. All junior Saturday games & training continued at Guy Turner Reserve. Junior Friday night home games were played at either Doncaster, Box Hill or Dandenong Hockey Grounds.

1997
Agreement was signed, along with Croydon Hockey Club, to play all home games & train at new grounds that were to be built at The Knox School.

1997/98
During a meeting between the presidents of the Knox & Croydon Hockey Clubs to finalise ground sharing times for training & matches, the idea of amalgamating the clubs was floated. This was taken to each clubs Committee and both clubs put forward to their respective AGMs that they amalgamate to become The Eastern Hockey Club and was carried. The Club’s colours were to be Yellow, Red & Green and the emblem to be an eagle.

1998
The ground was opened & the Eastern Hockey Club fielded 5 Mens Teams, 2 Women’s Teams & 13 Junior teams. The first Veterans team was also entered.

2004
A 3rd Women’s Team was entered into Hockey Victoria competion.

2008
A 4th Women’s Team and a 6th Men’s Team were entered into Hockey Victoria competition.
At the AGM at the end of 2008 the Committee put forward that the clubs name be changed to Knox Hockey Club. This was supported 100% by those at the AGM.

2009

A 5th Women’s Team, 7th Men’s Team and 4th Vet’s Team were entered into Hockey Victoria competition.
11 Junior Team’s were also entered.

2010
Women’s State League 4 Premiership after undefeated season.

2012
At the end of 2012 the Hockey Victoria competition restructure had our Men’s and Women’s moved from State League 3 and entered into Vic League 2 competitions for 2013.

2013
A Women’s Masters Team was entered into the Hockey Victoria winter season for the 1st time.
Men’s Metro 1 South East promotion to Men’s Pennant C for 2014.

2014
Women’s Vic League 2 Premiership and promotion to Women’s Vic League 1 for 2015.
Men’s Pennant C promotion to Men’s Pennant B for 2015.
